De-stress during Finals

The weeks surrounding final exams can be a tough time for students at Tech. Student groups and others across campus are here to help. 

Check out one of these stress-free events to relax and de-stress in the midst of finals. Remember, the Counseling Center has extended its walk-in hours through Thursday of this week, with counselors available until 7 p.m. each day.

Let's Talk

When: Dec. 4, 2 – 4 p.m.

Where: Communication Center, Suite 447, Clough Commons

The Counseling Center will host a session of its walk-in consultation series. “Let’s Talk” differs from formal counseling in that there is no clinical paperwork to fill out, no formal intake, and no scheduled appointments. Students are encouraged to drop by and talk about whatever is important to them, much as they might talk with a teaching assistant, residence hall director, or academic advisor.

Brighten GT

When: Dec. 4, 7 – 9 p.m.

Where: Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons

Emerging Leaders hosts Brighten GT, an event with free coffee, donuts, and positivity. Head to the first floor of Clough Commons to take a study break and fill up with positive energy. All students are welcome.

Pet Therapy

When: Dec. 5, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: College of Computing

The last Pet Therapy event of the semester will be held on Dec. 5 in the College of Computing. These events have been organized by Georgia Tech Health Initiatives and include guided pet interactions to help individuals recover and cope with health concerns and daily stressors stemming from work, school, or relationships. Student Center Programs Council (SCPC) Presents De-Stress Event

When: Dec. 5, 2 – 4 p.m.

Where: Student Center Peachtree Room

On the first reading day before finals, SCPC is hosting a free, de-stress event for all students to attend. Take a study break and head out to the Student Center Peachtree Room for free food, tea making, DIY stress balls, and more.


When: Dec. 5, 3 – 5 p.m.

Where: 2nd Floor, Library

Enjoy yoga, snacks, drinks, and on-hand counselors in the Library from 3 to 5 p.m.

For the Kids Panda Express Proceeds Night

When: Dec. 5, 5 – 8 p.m.

Where: Student Center Food Court Panda Express

Take a study break and support a good cause by getting food from Panda Express. Proceeds from the purchase will go to Georgia Tech for the Kids – a campus organization that raises money and awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Georgia Tech Dance Association Vinyl XP Swing Dance

When: Dec. 7, 8 p.m. – Midnight

Where: Student Center (3rd Floor)

The Georgia Tech Dance Association hosts a swing dancing event with music, dance lessons, and fun. The event is $5 for students. All levels of dancers are encouraged to attend. The beginners’ lesson starts at 8 p.m. and the intermediate lesson begins at 8:30 p.m.

Georgia Tech Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Chipotle Fundraiser

When: Dec. 9, 5 – 9 p.m.

Where: Student Center (Juniper Room) or Chipotle Mexican Grill (540 17th Street NW Atlanta, GA 30318)

On Dec. 9, SWE is hosting a Chipotle Delivery and Percentage Night. Students interested in participating should place their order here by Dec. 8 at noon. Deliveries can be picked up in the Student Center Juniper Room on Dec. 9. Alternatively, students can order directly in-store and present the flyer here. One-third of proceeds from this event will be donated to SWE.


When: Dec. 10, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Where: Campus Recreation Center (4th Floor, Studio B)

The Campus Recreation Center (CRC) is hosting a Spin-n-Screen event, where participants can spin while watching the movie Happy Feet. The class is free for all CRC members, but participants should arrive early to guarantee a spot.

Midnight Breakfast

When: Dec. 10, 7 p.m. – Midnight

Where: Student Center (2nd Floor Food Court)

The Student Center Programs Council hosts the annual Midnight Breakfast on Dec. 10. All students are welcome to attend this free event featuring breakfast food, therapy dogs, hot chocolate, and more. Reserve your spot here.
